The Great Escape
Instead of writing back, you just nod and hold up a finger, signalling for her to wait for a moment.
You disappear from the window and sneak back to you think you’d left in the woods nearby. You grabbed your pack, which you had kept relatively light for easy traveling, and hurried back.
You nod and stay right where you are, working the hem of your shirt in your hands, claws tearing at it. She’ll be back soon, just getting something - you assume. You keep your gaze locked on the window, waiting for her. She returns, and you seem to perk up, like a grub at the return of its lusus. To make a very terrible analogy.

The Great Escape
You smile back at her. You were completely sure this was the right person. You held up a piece of paper.
You tilted your head to the head, to help illustrate your question. If this was the wrong place you’d be in trouble.
You’d be sent back into official custody, and this time, it would be worse. You’d go to the Emperor. You’d be his new pet. His new battery. His new toy. His new guppy. Just the thought made you almost shiver in disgust. There was no way on Alternia you were letting that happen.
You read the paper quickly, scanning over it but once, and grin again, sharp fangs bared, nodding brightly. You find a ream of paper and rip it into size, painting rapidly with some leftover stolen paint.
“helmswoman? youve come fur me?”
Your hope is fluttering in your chest now, making you eager. Making you far too happy for your own good.

The Great Escape
Tonight, you were one a mission. Tonight, you were hunted. Tonight was the night that your escape also meant someone else’s escape. It was time to make good on your promise the to Signless.
To approached some highblood’s hive, one you didn’t care to learn the name of. You kept to the shadows, covered in a dark cloak you had stolen. Getting seen would mean death, or worse.
You circled the building until you found a shabby little area you could only guess was the servant’s quarters. You dragged a crate over to stand on and look in the window. When you finally spotted who you were looking for, you knocked softly.
Whilst circling your quarters, you think of what life must be like outside these walls. What it would feel like to have sunlight in your hair again. It hurt to imagine, though, because you felt as though it would never be. It would just be you and your writings until death, or your master’s death, whichever came first.
Likely yours, though.
You shudder.
Your reverie is broken by a rapping at your window, and you turn, olive eyes wide, to meet those of a psionic. Someone come to help you?
Your expression splits into a hopeful smile, gaze directed toward the window. You could only hope.

@helmslady
It’s cold.
This is nothing new for you, but you can’t help noticing in either case. You stir in your bed, under thin blankets, and hiss to yourself — feline, soft, under your breath.
How the hell had you allowed this to happen?
Stupid oliveblood, naive oliveblood. Little kitten. No, you were a lioness. Stupid kitten. Little toy. Those names ring in your ears, and you snarl again, disgusted with yourself and with your entire situation. You jerk upright and stare at your surroundings, and up at the moon peeking through the tiny window. Smattered around the walls, in paints stolen from your master’s other rooms, are your beliefs. Your thoughts, your hopes. All in sloppy, hurried handwriting. Thankfully, they’d never seen any of it. Somehow. Some way.
Standing up and shivering in the chill you decide to at least pace a bit. Maybe some bloodflow will warm your bones, if nothing else. Your head throbs.
Just another night in the servants’ quarters.
